HOW TO SET EFFECTIVE GOALS

Set Yourself Up For Success

Your dreams can become a reality but, you’re going to need a roadmap!

Goal setting helps you create a realistic plan to move you forward and stimulate positive change. We all experience procrastination, distractions, and other problems when it comes to setting and achieving goals. If you're having trouble doing so, don't worry—you're not alone!

Goal setting is the secret to getting anything you want.

It’s true!

Goal setting is a process and is one of the best ways to achieve success in both business and life.  But, the way we have always set goals in the past is not working anymore. We are entangled in this information age, our attention spans are shorter, and our access to information can be overwhelming. The more we insist on a work-life balance, it's just natural that the way we set goals has changed too.

Setting goals has evolved from an extenuating list of tasks to a well-thought-out roadmap. Set yourself up for success by setting effective goals aligned with what is truly necessary and valuable to you.  Now that's the way to set goals!

These three steps help you create your roadmap to success!

VISUALIZE IT:

To get started, ask yourself these 4 powerful questions:

  1. What is it that you want?

  2. What do you need to achieve?

  3. Can you foresee any obstacles ahead?

  4. How can you overcome them?

Goal setting moves you forward and helps you achieve your goals. But if you don't know how to set goals, it'll be difficult to succeed. Learning how to set goals that will work for you ensures you don't end up in trouble.

DOCUMENT IT:

  • Start by Documenting Each Goal that you aim to accomplish. If a goal doesn't have this motivating, transformational quality, don’t bother with it.

  • Next, for each goal, identify the milestones that you need to make to achieve each goal. Milestones are measurable tasks, actions, and events that move you toward the goal. Be sure to include long-term milestones like training or courses. These take time and need to be accounted for. So be realistic.

  • Lastly, monitor your progress. it's perfectly OK to adjust the time frames that you had initially established. Also, seeing yourself progressing in real time is highly motivating!

GO FOR IT:

Deciding to start a business is a life-changing goal. One that involves a multitude of actionable tasks necessary to plan, achieve, and sustain your business.

  • When starting your business you will focus your goals on accomplishing tasks like business ideas, licensing, legal structure, financing, hiring employees, marketing, and launching your business.

  • Once your business is active you will focus your goals on day-to-day activity and solving problems. There could be any number of new goals, and at any given time, REQUIRED to improve your business operation.

  • When the business becomes stabilized, you'll want to focus your goals on how to grow your business, expand, and scale

This process of starting, operating, and building is the life-cycle of business and Entrepreneurship touches every aspect for you to consider. Successful entrepreneurs are dedicated to the winning combination of continuous learning, business planning, and goal setting.
